Fishing Eco TourNewfoundland is blessed to have a large variety of everything. On this tour, you will get a glimpse into the wildlife, natural treasures and interesting geology. Then try your hand at fishing the rivers which are teeming with salmon.

Tour Description:
Operates Sunday to Friday

Day 1
Arrive in St. Anthony or Deer Lake, dine at Tuckamore Lodge (depending upon flight arrival time) with an introduction to the unique culture and history of the Great Northern Peninsula. Learn about the innovative conservation projects currently in progress. Spend your first night at Tuckamore Lodge where you will be able to listen to loons on the lake adjacent to the lodge.

Day 2
Up bright and early to fish for the renowned Atlantic salmon, then back to the lodge for rest. Crazy Ray Boat Tours brings you on a tour of Hare Bay to see whales, seabirds and icebergs (includes a short walk along the seashore). Ice will be taken from the bergs and used in your refreshments.

Day 3
Enjoy early morning salmon fishing on the river. In the afternoon, take a hike to the Underground Salmon Pool (a unique natural attraction in the region) accompanied by our guide. Spot the salmon as they enter the underground river on their journey upstream. See where the river resurfaces on its route to the Long Range Mountains.

Day 4
Visit the outport community of Conche and board a boat to see whales, icebergs seals and the dramatic coastal cliffs with nesting seabirds. Enjoy a pack lunch and hike with a local guide to ‘The Glass Hole’ or a cascading waterfall. Return to Tuckamore Lodge for a light snack and set out for an early evening on the river. Back to the lodge for a late dinner.

Day 5
Salmon fishing in the morning. In the afternoon, take a trip to Burnt Cape Ecological Reserve for a glimpse of some of our rare plant species that are found only in Newfoundland. Take your camera because Burnt Cape is an ideal location for viewing icebergs, whales, seabirds and an occasional polar bear. Back to the Lodge for an evening meal.

Day 6
Out for an early morning cast. Prepare for your trip home.

Deer Lake is a 4-hour drive through the Gros Morne National Park and St. Anthony Airport is a beautiful scenic 20-minute drive to the lodge. In the afternoon, we will take a boat tour with Crazy Ray Boat Tours for some iceberg and whale watching. Experience the excitement of viewing one of Newfoundland’s largest sea caves, while listening to the stories of our local legends.

Day 3:
Enjoy a full day of salmon fishing.

Day 4:
Up in the morning for a hearty breakfast, then its off to Conche for a day of learning about our local heritage, on display at the French Shore Interpretation Centre. Take a hike along the rugged coastline, where you will have the opportunity to see whales, icebergs, seabirds, caribou and seals.

Day 5:
Full day of salmon fishing

Tour Description:
Day 1: Hike a coastal trail to places where eagles soar, whales bugle and icebergs calf.

Day 2. View a Tapestry in excess of 260 feet in length, embroidered by the local ladies of Conche. This work of Art depicts the very colorful history of Newfoundland. Visit a WWII plane crash site.  Enjoy a packed lunch at a lookout site. Be prepared to be dazzled by some of the most breath-taking scenery you will ever see.

Encounters With Wildlife Tour at Tuckamore LodgeExperience a diverse variety of wildlife during the “Encounter with Wildlife” Tour with Tuckamore Lodge.

Get as close to nature as you dare in this tour of discovery. On this tour, you will discover the many varieties of sea birds which inhabit these parts including Puffins, Murres, Kittiwakes and many more. You will also observe mammals such as moose, foxes, black bears and caribou as they go about their daily lives.

Order of Daily Activities is Weather-Dependent.

Tour Description:
Day 1:
Evening arrival, with a hearty home-cooked meal at Tuckamore Lodge. After dinner, get settled in then meet Barb and her staff who will introduce you to the week’s activities.

Day 2:
Travel by boat through eastern Hare Bay to view an ecological reserve where seabirds nest. Along the way, enjoy a feast of blue mussels, which you’ll pick from the icy shoals. See whales, icebergs and walk along the rugged shores.
Journey along the meanders of the majestic Salmon River by canoe. Encounter moose grazing on lily pads on the shores of quiet lakes. Paddle by loons as their forlorn cries echo in the timber on the hillside and watch bald eagles soar out of sight.

Day 3:
Drive to Conche, passing moose on the roadside, and then board an authentic fishing vessel skippered by an Irish Newfoundlander. He’ll take you for a fantastic day of whale watching and iceberg viewing. You’ll visit a seabird colony teeming with puffins, murres and kittiwakes, a combination, which attracts a family of bald eagles. When you’re tired of this spectacle, journey on to watch grey seals lounge on sun baked boulders.

Day 4:
In the morning, hike to a fossil site to view the wildlife of the past. Ancient marine organisms are preserved in limestone bedrock jutting out of a shrubby meadow. Watch moose traverse the grounds of our ancient ancestors. In the evening, sit in a tree stand and watch black bears, foxes and birds visit a treat of molasses and bread.

Alternatively, travel to the west side of Hare Bay to an abandoned fishing village — Fishot Island. Along the way, watch for caribou on the barren headlands and majestic bald eagles which frequent the beaches, looking for the day’s meal.

Day 5:
Travel to L’Anse aux Meadows to see the UNESCO world heritage site and everything it has to offer.  Then take a tour of the northern tip of Newfoundland. See majestic whales and get your fill of gigantic icebergs.

Day 6:
Enjoy a relaxing morning at Tuckamore Lodge on Southwest Pond. Prepare for your journey home and say goodbye to your new found friends.

Day 1:
Arrive in St. Anthony or Deer Lake. Dinner at Tuckamore Lodge (depending upon flight arrival time) with an introduction to the unique culture and history of the Great Northern Peninsula. Learn about the innovative conservation projects currently in progress. Eider Duck Enhancement and Fish Habitat improvements. Your first night at Tuckamore, hear the forlorn cry of the common loon.

Day 2:
Salmon fishing and boat tour. Up bright and early for a good morning of fishing in a local Salmon River, then back to the lodge for a rest. In the afternoon, we will take a boat tour with Crazy Ray Boat Tours for some iceberg and whale watching. Experience the excitement of viewing one of Newfoundland’s largest sea caves, while listening to the stories of our local legends.

Day 3:
Enjoy a full day of salmon fishing.

Day 4:
Up in the morning for a hearty breakfast, then its off to Conche for a day of learning about our local heritage, on display at the French Shore Interpretation Centre. Take a hike along the rugged coastline, where you will have the opportunity to see whales, icebergs, seabirds, caribou and seals.

Day 5:
Full day of salmon fishing

Day 6:
Return to the airport after a warm goodbye from your new friends at Tuckamore Lodge. See you next year.

Encounters With Wildlife Tour at Tuckamore LodgeExperience a diverse variety of wildlife during the “Encounter with Wildlife” Tour with Tuckamore Lodge.

Get as close to nature as you dare in this tour of discovery. On this tour, you will discover the many varieties of sea birds which inhabit these parts including Puffins, Murres, Kittiwakes and many more. You will also observe mammals such as moose, foxes, black bears and caribou as they go about their daily lives.

Tour Description:
Day 1:
Evening arrival, with a hearty home-cooked meal at Tuckamore Lodge. After dinner, get settled in then meet Barb and her staff who will introduce you to the week’s activities.

Day 2:
Travel by boat through eastern Hare Bay to view an ecological reserve where seabirds nest. Along the way, enjoy a feast of blue mussels, which you’ll pick from the icy shoals. See whales, icebergs and walk along the rugged shores.
Journey along the meanders of the majestic Salmon River by canoe. Encounter moose grazing on lily pads on the shores of quiet lakes. Paddle by loons as their forlorn cries echo in the timber on the hillside and watch bald eagles soar out of sight.

Day 3:
Drive to Conche, passing moose on the roadside, and then board an authentic fishing vessel skippered by an Irish Newfoundlander. He’ll take you for a fantastic day of whale watching and iceberg viewing. You’ll visit a seabird colony teeming with puffins, murres and kittiwakes, a combination, which attracts a family of bald eagles. When you’re tired of this spectacle, journey on to watch grey seals lounge on sun baked boulders.

Day 4:
In the morning, hike to a fossil site to view the wildlife of the past. Ancient marine organisms are preserved in limestone bedrock jutting out of a shrubby meadow. Watch moose traverse the grounds of our ancient ancestors. In the evening, sit in a tree stand and watch black bears, foxes and birds visit a treat of molasses and bread.

Alternatively, travel to the west side of Hare Bay to an abandoned fishing village — Fishot Island. Along the way, watch for caribou on the barren headlands and majestic bald eagles which frequent the beaches, looking for the day’s meal.

Day 5:
Travel to L’Anse aux Meadows to see the UNESCO world heritage site and everything it has to offer.  Then take a tour of the northern tip of Newfoundland. See majestic whales and get your fill of gigantic icebergs.

Day 6:
Enjoy a relaxing morning at Tuckamore Lodge on Southwest Pond. Prepare for your journey home and say goodbye to your new found friends.

Fishing Eco TourNewfoundland is blessed to have a large variety of everything. On this tour, you will get a glimpse into the wildlife, natural treasures and interesting geology. Then try your hand at fishing the rivers which are teeming with salmon.

Day 1
Arrive in St. Anthony or Deer Lake, dine at Tuckamore Lodge (depending upon flight arrival time) with an introduction to the unique culture and history of the Great Northern Peninsula. Learn about the innovative conservation projects currently in progress. Spend your first night at Tuckamore Lodge where you will be able to listen to loons on the lake adjacent to the lodge.

Day 2
Up bright and early to fish for the renowned Atlantic salmon, then back to the lodge for rest. Crazy Ray Boat Tours brings you on a tour of Hare Bay to see whales, seabirds and icebergs (includes a short walk along the seashore). Ice will be taken from the bergs and used in your refreshments.

Day 3
Enjoy early morning salmon fishing on the river. In the afternoon, take a hike to the Underground Salmon Pool (a unique natural attraction in the region) accompanied by our guide. Spot the salmon as they enter the underground river on their journey upstream. See where the river resurfaces on its route to the Long Range Mountains.

Day 4
Visit the outport community of Conche and board a boat to see whales, icebergs seals and the dramatic coastal cliffs with nesting seabirds. Enjoy a pack lunch and hike with a local guide to ‘The Glass Hole’ or a cascading waterfall. Return to Tuckamore Lodge for a light snack and set out for an early evening on the river. Back to the lodge for a late dinner.

Day 5
Salmon fishing in the morning. In the afternoon, take a trip to Burnt Cape Ecological Reserve for a glimpse of some of our rare plant species that are found only in Newfoundland. Take your camera because Burnt Cape is an ideal location for viewing icebergs, whales, seabirds and an occasional polar bear. Back to the Lodge for an evening meal.

Day 6
Out for an early morning cast. Prepare for your trip home.
